Product Safety Recall - Play Gyms and Slides
In the interest of safety and customer satisfaction, Hills Industries Limited voluntarily recalled all PlayTime play gyms throughout the participating retailer network. All of these PlayTime products have now been replaced, and all stock in the retail environment is fit for sale.
Customers who purchased PlayTime play gyms and slides between the 1st December 2005 and 10th May 2007. Please refer to the information below to determine if your play equipment is affected. If so, you should immediately cease using the play equipment, and follow the information below to arrange for the delivery of a replacement set of plastic components at Hills’ expense.
Description of Problem
The bright green plastic components (seats and slides) attached to the steel frame of the play equipment have a "Replace By" stamp and date. This is because plastic components exposed to outdoor conditions deteriorate over time, and should be replaced.
The plastic components of the play gyms and slides being recalled require replacement earlier than the "Replace By" dates stamped, due to premature fading and minor cracking. Over the next 12 months, and in worst case, the components may unexpectedly crack during use, possibly causing injury.
Action Required
Please refer to the information below to determine if your play equipment is affected and arrange for the delivery of a replacement set of plastic components at Hills’ expense.
Products Affected
The affected products are all configurations including the above illustration, and can be identified as follows:
- The steel frame parts are dark blue coloured, and
- The plastic parts are bright green coloured and are embossed with both the Hills logo (as shown at the foot of this notice) and with "Replace By" date markings between Oct 2009 and Dec 2010.
The earlier model Hills play gyms and slides with a green steel frame and bright yellow plastic components are NOT affected by this recall.
